Empowering a New Generation of Peacemakers Through Faith and Service
Our Vision:
Serving for Peace
The Religious Youth Service (RYS) is a visionary service-learning program that brings together young adults of all faiths, cultures, and nations. We believe that interfaith cooperation is the fundamental foundation for world peace. By affirming the universal principles shared by all religions, we empower young leaders to look beyond cultural and religious differences, move from competition to cooperation, and translate the ideals of compassion and charity into concrete, life-changing action.
A Legacy of
Global Action
Since our inaugural project in the Philippines in 1986—founded by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon at the Assembly of World Religions—RYS has grown into a global movement. Over the past four decades, we have facilitated over 250 projects in 60 nations, engaging more than 10,000 participants.
From constructing schools in Zambia and building foundations for interfaith orphanages in India to creating family parks for Australian Aboriginal communities, our work focuses on learning while providing tangible benefits to the local community. We do not just talk about peace; we build it through the "new paradigm" of living for the sake of others.
Why RYS?
A Unique Service-Learning Experience
RYS is more than a standard volunteer project. It is a three-tier experiential journey consisting of orientation, work service, and reflection.
-
Hands-On Service: We partner with local agencies to address real-world needs, ensuring that our work creates lasting, positive change for the community.
-
Leadership Development: Participants gain essential communication, team-building, and conflict-resolution skills, preparing them to lead in their home communities.
-
Interfaith Dialogue: Through shared study, devotional activities, and service, we explore the transcendent elements of learning that connect humanity.
Celebrating 40 Years:
2026 Sri Lanka Project
To mark our 40th anniversary, we are proud to host our 2026 RYS Project in the Kalutara District of Sri Lanka. This year, our team of youth leaders will undertake a critical "Clean Water Restoration" project at the Matugama Rubber Estate. By repairing water sources and installing new infrastructure, we will provide clean, reliable water to 28 families, directly improving the lives of 120 people whose livelihoods depend on this land.
Join us as we continue to build a culture of peace, one project at a time.
